Shimla, January 31:
With a renewed pledge to make Himachal Pradesh a drug-free state, the Himachal Forum Against Drug Abuse (HFADA) concluded its two-day dialogue and awareness workshop on Friday in Shimla.
The program brought together over 50 students from the Social Work and Law departments of Himachal Pradesh University, Polytechnic College Kandaghat, and DIET Solan to deliberate on the growing menace of drug abuse among youth.
Retired IAS officer Sharabh Negi inaugurated the workshop and lauded HFADA’s sustained efforts in combating substance abuse. He said safeguarding youth from falling prey to addiction has become a pressing challenge for parents and society, urging collective action to curb the social evil.
Mental health expert and Block Medical Officer Dr. Ajay Singh highlighted the alarming rise in synthetic drug use among young people. He emphasized the importance of yoga and scientific lifestyle practices, effective communication within families, and proper identification of individual skills to help youth stay_toggle on positive paths.
As part of the awareness initiative, the first episode of the web series “The White Truth” was screened, drawing strong appreciation from the participants. A cultural troupe from DIET Solan, in collaboration with the Gyan Vigyan Samiti, also staged a thought-provoking play and performed organizational songs to reinforce the anti-drug message.
