Solan Police has busted two gangs of chitta smuggling operating in Himachal Pradesh. In this, 16 people including the supplier, agent and main leader of both the gangs have been arrested. Police have also recovered 167 grams of chitta from these accused. The main accused arrested include a couple from Assam, a Nigerian and a businessman from Delhi. They were supplying Chitta in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal. The police achieved this success on the basis of the accused arrested from Shimla, Solan, Dharampur, Haryana along with small consignments of chitta. In this, the police has taken the Nigerian and Delhi businessman to Solan. Preparations are being made to present them in the court. SP Solan Gaurav Singh said that the police has started interrogating the accused. The network of these two gangs is spread throughout Himachal. Hundreds of youth are in contact with them. They buy chittas from them. This has been revealed from the bank transactions of the accused.
The special team of Solan Police was keeping a watch on the big chitta smugglers for about two months. On September 19, a raid was conducted at the hideout of Arun Kumar alias Abbu in Dharampur area and 10.10 grams of Chitta was recovered. The accused was arrested and taken on police remand. On his notice, the police identified 6 suppliers and monitored their activities. Husband and wife of Surajpur Pinjore were also found involved in this. He was living in Das Road Pan Bazaar Guwahati Assam Hall tenant Subhash Nagar Kaluni Surajpur. After arresting both of them, the main leader of Chitta was revealed during interrogation. Police have formed a team and arrested Ansalem Nwagu, a person of Nigerian origin from Nawada area of Delhi. The police have brought him to Solan. In this case, police have arrested Chitta buyer, Chitta seller, Chitta supplier and 10 middlemen along with 55 grams of Chitta.
On September 4, the police had recovered 11 grams of Chitta from Ashish and Kushal Chauhan residents of Kotkhai district Shimla. After arresting both, they were taken on remand. Investigation revealed that accused Harinder Manta, resident of Chirgaon, Shimla, sold Chitta to them. On September 6, the police arrested Harinder with 101 grams of chitta. On this, the police also arrested Arun Yadav, resident of Badaun district, Uttar Pradesh. Accused Arun had brought the consignment from Satish. It was to be further sold by Harinder Manta to the youth of Shimla and Solan. Based on the information of the accused, the police reached the main leader of this gang. Police arrested Sameer Srivastava, resident of Uttam Nagar, Delhi, who runs a grocery shop. The police has taken him to Solan. In this case, the police arrested 6 accused and recovered 112 grams of chitta.
