Shimla, April 9:
In a continued crackdown against drug trafficking, Shimla police have arrested two accused and recovered 9.32 grams of heroin (chitta) from their possession in the Krishna Nagar area.
According to police, the operation was carried out by the Special Cell team on April 7 during patrolling and surveillance. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the team reached a residential premises in Sikh Line, Krishna Nagar, where illegal drug trade was reportedly being conducted.
The accused have been identified as Saurabh Gharu (36) and Lov Gharu (32), both residents of Krishna Nagar. During the search, conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, police recovered 9.32 grams of heroin from the room.
A case (FIR No. 33/26) has been registered at Police Station Sadar Shimla under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act on April 8, and both accused have been arrested.
Police officials said the accused were produced before a local court and remanded to three days of police custody for further interrogation.
The investigation is ongoing, and Shimla police reiterated that their anti-drug campaign will continue with full intensity across the district.
