District Solan Police has achieved another major success under the special efforts being made to save the youth from the clutches of drugs. During patrolling and crime prevention, the team of the Special Investigation Unit arrested two youths with 6.19 grams of heroin in Kotla Nala area.
The police had received information that boys from other states were staying in a rented room in Kotla Nala with the purpose of supplying chitta/heroin. On this, the Special Investigation Team took immediate action and raided the said room. Two youths, Ramchandra (28 years), resident of Dallapura, East Delhi, and Happy Singh (21 years), resident of Salem Tabri, Nanak Nagar, Ludhiana, Punjab, were arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered against the youths under sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act). In the preliminary investigation, it was found that the accused were living in a rented room in Kotla Nala for some time and used to sell clothes by hawking.
The police have taken the accused in custody for four days and have started intensive interrogation. Apart from this, their previous criminal records are also being investigated. The police are trying to find out whether the accused has any big network involved in drug trafficking. On the other hand, Solan Police has appealed to the public that if they get any information related to the drug business, they should immediately inform the police.
