Deputy Commissioner Solan Manmohan Sharma said that work is essential to increase the shelf life of agricultural produce through processing. This could benefit the district’s farmers and orchardists. UCO RSETI should explore the possibility of starting training programs related to agricultural business. Manmohan Sharma was chairing the 53rd meeting organized by the UCO Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (UCO RSETI) here today.
Manmohan Sharma said that UCO ARSETI should organize training programs that provide better employment and self-employment opportunities for youth. UCO ARSETI should coordinate with various departments and periodically organize training camps and Kisan Credit Card fairs at the Panchayat level to benefit as many villagers as possible.
He directed the Director of UCO ARSETI to ensure that youth from Kasauli, Dharampur, and Chail areas receive tourism-related training, ensuring greater employment opportunities in the tourism sector. He stated that these areas of Solan district have immense potential for tourism expansion, and that providing youth with tourism training can yield greater benefits and economic empowerment.
Apart from this, he also gave instructions to provide training to local masons through UCO Rural Employment Institute so that house construction work can be done in a scientific manner in Solan district to minimize the impact of the disaster.
In the meeting, UCO Rural Employment Institute Director Meenu Bariyan said that 221 trainees were provided training under seven different programmes in the district.
Chairman of Zila Parishad Solan Ramesh Thakur, District Development Manager of NABARD Ashok Chauhan, Additional Director of Animal Husbandry Department Solan Dr. Vijay Kumar Pathak, District Panchayat Officer Solan Joginder Prakash Rana along with officers of various departments and bank representatives were present on this occasion.
