The students and faculty of the Department of Vegetable Science of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni participated in the recently concluded Golden Jubilee National Symposium on ‘New Opportunities in Vegetable Production for Sustainable Development’. The symposium was organised at the Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi in which all the Centers of All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Vegetable Crops took part.
Seven scientists working at the Solan center of AICRP and 25 MSc and PhD students of the university took part in this national symposium. Deliberations were held in five technical sessions and poster presentations were made in all the sessions. The university team bagged prizes in four technical sessions.
The poster presented by Impa, Dr. Ramesh Kumar and Dr. YR Shukla bagged the 2nd prize in Innovative techniques for vegetable breeding while Dr. Rajeev, Dr. Anchal, Dr. Reena and Dr. Shivani also bagged the second prize for poster presentation on the theme ‘Reaching the Marginalized Farmers for Inclusive Vegetable Development’. The poster presented by Nitin Yadav, Dr. Kuldeep Thakur, Dr. DK Mehta and Dr. YR Shukla won the third prize for their poster presentation on quality seed and planting material of vegetable crops. The poster on the theme of vegetable production systems and value addition presented by Kuldeep Bonde, Dr. Abhay Wagh and Anamika Walia was adjudged third.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, University statutory officers congratulated the students and the faculty for their performance in the national symposium.
