Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, insurance of maize and paddy crops to be done till July 15

Nahan, June 26. Giving information, Deputy Director Agriculture Sirmaur Rajkumar said that the farmers of Sirmaur district can get the insurance of maize and paddy crops done under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana till July 15, 2025.
He informed that the sum insured for both maize and paddy crops is Rs. 60 thousand per hectare, in which farmers will have to pay only 2 per cent premium of the sum insured while the remaining premium amount will be borne by the Central and State governments.
He said that by insuring these crops, farmers can protect their crops from the risks of natural calamities like drought, flood, inundation, natural fire, soil erosion etc. from sowing to harvesting. Apart from this, the losses incurred for two weeks after harvesting and losses caused by localized calamities can also be compensated.
He informed that the Agricultural Insurance Company AIC has been selected for crop insurance in the district.
