Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur hailed the Union Budget 2026–27 as a transformative and youth-focused budget that will play a crucial role in building a developed India by 2047.
He said the budget reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long-term vision to empower youth through education, skill development, innovation, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Thakur highlighted that the allocation for the Ministry of Education has increased to ₹1,39,289.48 crore, marking an 8.27% rise from the previous fiscal year. The total capital expenditure for 2026–27 stands at ₹12.21 lakh crore, expected to boost private investment and create large-scale employment in infrastructure, manufacturing, logistics, and services.
He said the Budget focuses on three main goals—accelerating economic growth, fulfilling public aspirations, and ensuring equal access to opportunities. It strengthens education, MSMEs, tourism, healthcare, and aims to transform Tier-II and Tier-III cities into new growth hubs.
Key initiatives such as India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, the ₹40,000 crore Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme, and ₹10,000 crore Biopharma Shakti are expected to generate high-quality jobs in research, design, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Thakur also announced the establishment of Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) labs in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges to train 20 lakh professionals by 2030. Additionally, a girls’ hostel will be built in every district to promote higher participation of girls in STEM education.
For MSMEs and startups, the ₹10,000 crore SME Growth Fund and continued support under the Self-Reliant India Fund will provide risk capital and growth financing to young entrepreneurs. Simplified compliance rules and a digital single-window system will further ease startup operations.
In the sports sector, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has been allocated around ₹4,480 crore. Major schemes like Mera Yuva Bharat (₹655.2 crore) and Khelo India (₹924.4 crore) aim to enhance youth engagement, sports infrastructure, and athlete development across the country.
Thakur said the Union Budget 2026–27 is a strong step toward empowering India’s youth and positioning them at the center of the nation’s growth journey toward 2047.
