Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission, Devendra Kumar Sharma, has been given Aqua Foundation’s ‘Dam Safety Life Time Achievement Award 2021’ during the inaugural session of the fifteenth World Aqua Congress (XV WAC) and Dam Safety Conclave being held virtually in New Delhi from 14th to 17th September, 2021.
This Dam Safety Life Time Achievement Award is given to one person in the country who has made significant contribution in the field of dam safety. Previously Sh Sharma managed Bhakra Beas Management Board as its Chairman, from April, 2017 to July, 2020. Theme of this year’s World Aqua Congress is Water (beyond Pricing…. Environmental, Social and Cultural Values). Aqua Foundation lauded significant contribution made by Sh Sharma towards the dam safety, in managing the assets of national importance, operation of reservoirs and distribution of water and electricity to the partner states during his tenure in BBMB. Aqua Foundation appreciated the work and contributions made by Sh Sharma during the last forty years in water resources, dam engineering and energy sectors in remote and difficult locations throughout the Country.
Moksh Media Services CEO Vimal Sharma congratulated Devendra Kumar Sharma for getting Dam Safety Life Time Achievement Award 2021. He said “this is a proud moment for Himachall’s”.
Sharma thanked Aqua Foundation for the award and dedicated this award to his team mates who worked with him on challenging assignments during his professional career of 40 years. He said that hopefully, this award would also inspire young professionals coming from small towns and villages with big dreams. He said that he is deeply honored for recognition of his contribution towards Nation Building. Sh Sharma has professional experience in the fields of water, dam engineering and energy. He has worked on planning, design, construction and operation of number of dams for hydroelectric projects as well as for irrigation works throughout the country as well as in Bhutan.
