The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called for a 48-hour all-India strike. Under this, there will be a strike in banks from midnight of March 23 to midnight of March 25. United Forum of Bank Union officials gave this information while addressing a press conference in Shimla. The United Forum of Bank Unions is a joint body consisting of nine bank unions. These unions represent more than 8 lakh employees and officers of public sector banks, private banks, foreign banks, cooperative banks, and regional rural banks.
It includes All India Bank Employees Association, All India Bank Officers Confederation, National Confederation of Bank Unions, All India Bank Officers Association, Bank Employees Federation of India, Indian National Bank Employees Federation, Indian National Bank Officers Congress, National Organization of Bank Workers and National Organization of Bank Officers Union. Who will support this strike? Forum officials say that a 48-hour strike has been called by bank unions. The main demands include implementing a 5-day working system in banks, adequate recruitment in all cadres and regularization of temporary employees.
The forum says that the performance review and PLI-related instructions issued recently by the government should be withdrawn immediately, as they endanger the job security of bank employees and create discrimination, so it has been demanded to withdraw it. Apart from this, the vacant posts of workers and officer directors in public sector banks should be filled, pending issues related to bank employees should be resolved, the Gratuity Act should be amended to increase the limit to Rs 25 lakh and exempt it from income tax, among many other demands. Bank employees have now come out on the agitation. During the call for a 48-hour strike, the forum has appealed to everyone for cooperation in it so that the demands of the employees can be met.
