Sonu Sharma Secures First Place in Shot Put and Sack Race
Shimla, March 09: International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Dublu village of Balog Panchayat, a remote area of Mashobra block. The programme was organized under the aegis of the Awareness and Ekta Gram Organization. Various competitions and cultural activities were conducted on the occasion, in which women, young girls, self-help groups and local villagers participated enthusiastically.
The Chief Head Teacher of the Central Primary School Dublu, Pushpa Sharma, attended the programme as the chief guest and inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Gram Organization President Promila and Vice President Sonu Sharma welcomed the chief guest and stated that the purpose of the event was to raise awareness about the social, educational and economic empowerment of women and to recognize their contributions.
During the programme, several speakers highlighted topics such as women’s rights, the importance of education, health awareness and self-reliance. Cultural performances were also presented by local school girls and women from self-help groups.
Women participated enthusiastically in various sports competitions organized during the event. In the tug-of-war competition, Reena secured first place. In the shot put competition, Sonu Sharma delivered an excellent performance and secured first place. In the chair race, Anjana stood first, Meena second and Poonam third.
In the sack race, Sonu secured first place while Beena came second. In the chair race (senior category), Baby secured first place. At the end of the programme, prizes were distributed to the winners.
Support for the event was also provided by Vivo, and a slow-game activity was also organized during the programme.
The event was attended by Gram Organization office bearers Reena, Meera and several women from the area.
