Vigilance Bureau has started investigating the case where cash has been recovered from DFO. The government has permitted investigation. During the code of conduct for the assembly elections in the year 2022, on October 22, cash worth Rs 1 lakh seven thousand was recovered from the vehicle of the then DFO Bilaspur. The agency was waiting for permission to investigate for about one and a half years. The state government has permitted under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.
Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 states that no public servant can be interrogated or investigated by any investigating agency or police officer in case of any alleged offence committed by him without the prior permission of the government concerned. This is why this investigation could not proceed for one and a half years due to lack of permission. Now this investigation will be taken forward. Where were the officials taking the recovered amount? From which account was it withdrawn? The investigating agency will collect all its evidence.
Let us tell you that the team of Himachal Pradesh State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau recovered cash from the vehicle of the then DFO Bilaspur on October 22, 2022. The Vigilance team formed a team under the leadership of the then ASP Yogesh Rolta and set up a blockade near Lakhanpur and searched the officer’s vehicle. This amount was recovered during the search. During that time the officers on the spot could not give any satisfactory answer to the vigilance team regarding this cash. Vigilance had seized the amount on this.
