The second round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025 at the district level was officially launched on March 18, 2025, at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), which is selected as the Nodal Center for the Shimla and Kinnaur districts. This initiative, organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India, aims to involve youth in the democratic process and promote discussions on pressing national issues.
The focus of the event is to empower participants aged 18 to 25 through a four-level selection process, starting with a one-minute video submission on the My Bharat Portal. From the submissions, 150 participants from Shimla and Kinnaur districts were shortlisted to take part in the district-level event at JUIT.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by esteemed university officials, jury members, faculty, students, and enthusiastic participants, all stressing the vital role of youth voices in advancing a progressive India. The jury included: Dr. Sandhya Sharma, Head of the Department of English at Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla; Ms. Deepika Sharma, Editor of Asar News; Dr. Puneet Bhushan, Assistant Professor at Himachal Pradesh University Business School, Shimla; Ms. Sheetal Sharma Vyas, Advocate in the High Court of Shimla; and Dr. Neena Jindal, Assistant Professor at Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, Solan.
Following the opening session, more than 50 participants passionately conveyed their views on the theme “One Nation, One Election,” reflecting their dedication to the democratic process. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Nishant Jain who is, NSS Programme Coordinator at JUIT.
