Shimla,29 May
In the case of the suspicious death of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Chief Engineer Vimal Negi, a 3-member CBI Special Investigation Unit will reach Shimla next week. The CBI Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) unit in Shimla will take over the entire record of the case from Shimla Police within the next 2 days. The SIT formed to investigate the entire case will first investigate the entire record related to the case. Along with this, the facts included in the report of the Additional Chief Secretary Home, DGP, and SIT will also be verified. After this, a round of interrogation will be started.
First of all, on the basis of the complaint, the officials of the Power Corporation who are under the scanner will be questioned. Vimal Negi’s wife has alleged in her complaint that her husband was being mentally harassed and mistreated by the senior officials of the Power Corporation, especially the Director (Electricity) and Managing Director, for the last 6 months. He was being deliberately forced to work late at night by the said officers and was not being given medical leave even when he was ill.
The repeated threats of administrative action led to his suicide. It is worth noting that the Pekhubela project is also mentioned in the administrative report. In such a situation, the records of the Pekhubela project can also be investigated. If any irregularities are found during this period, then the help of ED can also be taken for financial investigation.
