Shimla
The state high court has reserved the decision in the case of the death of Power Corporation Chief Engineer Vimal Negi in Himachal Pradesh High Court. The case was heard in the court of Justice Ajay Mohan Goyal on Wednesday. The High Court may give its decision in a day or two. In such a situation, there is doubt on whether the case will be handed over to the CBI or not. At the same time, Shimla Police will not be able to file a charge sheet in this case without the permission of the court. The court has put a stay on this. Two reports have been submitted to the court by the government. One is the administrative investigation report of Additional Chief Secretary Home Okar Chand Sharma, while the other is a 134-page fact-finding report given by the police. The court has kept both these investigation reports in its record.
At the same time, the Advocate General has requested the court that this investigation report should not be made public because the investigation is still going on. The government has formed an SIT in this case. A status report has also been filed by the DGP. The family has made serious allegations about the government’s investigation. The advocate said that the government is not conducting the investigation impartially. They have demanded the court hand over the case to the CBI. They have demanded that the report submitted by the ACS be made public. The court has not accepted this demand yet. The advocate told the court that the petitioner’s husband, Vimal Negi been missing since March 10.
The postmortem report states that he died three days ago. In such a situation, questions have arisen on histh as to whether this case is related to suicide or someone has conspired to kill him. The police have not been able to find this out yet. The family has alleged that Vimal Negi was mentally pressured by Power Corporation Director Deshraj, suspended MD Harikesh Meena and Shivam Pratap to get wrong work done. He was made to sit in the office for many hours and was mentally harassed. This case is also being linked to the scam in the Pekhubela project. This has also been mentioned in the investigation report.
An SIT had hidden the pen drive…
The police have filed two separate status reports. Advocate General Anup Ratan told the court that the government is not aware of these two reports. The government wants a fair investigation. The government will itself present the report of Additional Chief Secretary Home Omkar Sharma publicly when the time comes so that the family gets justice and there is fairness in the action being taken against the officers. He told me that before Vimal Negi went missing, the DGP had formed an SIT. The second SIT was formed by the government after Vimal Negi’s death. An officer of the SIT formed by the DGP had hidden the pen drive. It was taken into possession by the second SIT formed by the government.
Himachal Pradesh High Court Advocate General Anup Ratan has demanded from the court that the investigation report of ACS should not be made public. This case was investigated after the instructions of the chief minister. Omkar Sharma has submitted the investigation report to the Chief Minister, but till now the report has not been made public. The family is raising questions on this.
