Under the series of book discussion, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla has organised Virtual book discussion today on ‘Dharma in America: A Short History of Hindu – Jain Diaspora’ authored by Professor Pankaj Jain, Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies, FLAME University, Pune. In the opening remarks, the Director of the Institute, Professor Makarand R. Paranjape welcomed all the participants associated with WebEx and gave a brief introduction to the book by Professor Jain.
Professor Pankaj Jain discussed about various important aspects of education, economy, medicine, health, Ayurveda, music, citizenship etc. of Hindus and Jain community presented in his book. Apart from this, a brief history of Hindus and Jains in America, ethnic and religious issues and challenges in America in the last two centuries has also been highlighted.
Professor Pankaj Jain author, Dr. Amit Sarwal from University of South Pacific, Fiji, Ms. Nandini Bhasin from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, Dr. Anil Tiwari, Dr. Samita Srinivasan, & Fellows of IIAS Professor Madhava Hada, , Professor Balram Shukla, & Dr. Abhishek Kumar Yadav etc. prominent scholars participated in this discussion.
