A Virtual networking event was organised by MS Swaminathan School of Agriculture, Shoolini University in association with Lancaster University UK, on Wednesday to discuss about the pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCP) in the environment and resolution of water pollution.
Dr. Binoy Sarkar, Lancaster University, UK presents the project introductory remark and proposed a plan of development and implementation of data informed research, technology development and assessment, outreach, engagement and education activities in Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) region which is known Pharmaceutical and personal care hub.
The event was started with the welcome address by Prof. Atul Khosla Vice-Chancellor, Shoolini University and further address by guest of honour Prof. PK Khosla Chancellor, Shoolini University. Prof. Atul Khosla, said we should work on the various techniques to make sewage water drinkable here at shoolini and Prof. P.K. Khosla, said have collective pledge to do research in the areas concerned with Himalayas for climate change and water conservation.
The panel discussed about the global issues of water pollution and methods and techniques to tackle water pollution. The speakers set forth the presentation over the topics, like what is in the water, Research on emerging pollutants in surface water in different rivers of the world, Fate of micro and nano plastics and Pharmaceuticals as emerging contaminants etc,.
Prof. Suparna Mukherji, Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay, India delivered lecture on Pharmaceuticals as emerging contaminants: Challenges in monitoring and removal from water and wastewater and said while analysing the pharmaceuticals in waste water we should be aware of impact of pro contaminants in the recovery values.

talks about the fate of micro and nano-plastics in the lower Ganga river basin. Prof. Gurjot Kaur, Shoolini University Shared her views on the topic what is in the water? Interaction of pharmaceuticals with micro plastics in wastewater. Prof. Le Thi Phuong Quynh, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), Vietnam discussed the issues on Research on emerging pollutants in surface water in Hanoi city. Prof. Sarva Mangala Praveena, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia shared views on Emerging pollutants research in Malaysian river water and highlighted the river water pollutants in Malaysian river water.
The event was concluded on the note of working over the matter on ground level and formulates the things to have impact over the livelihood general population. Concluding remarks and vote of thanks were presented by Dr. Santanu Mukherjee, Shoolini University and organiser of the event said our future projects should be research on pharmaceutical products in aquatic and terrestrial environments.
Earlier to this Prof. YS Negi Shoolini University introduce the speakers and said we have to look into the ways to conserve the water resources and make sure they are not polluted.
