SHIMLA
The weather is likely to change again in the state, with the Meteorological Department forecasting light rain and snowfall in higher hill areas from Friday. According to the department, light precipitation may occur at one or two places in high-altitude regions on February 27 and 28, and March 3 and 4.
The forecast indicates that minimum and maximum temperatures are unlikely to witness any major change in most parts of the state over the next four to five days, except in higher and adjoining mid-hill areas. However, a drop of 2 to 5 degrees Celsius in both minimum and maximum temperatures is expected on February 27 and 28.
On Thursday, bright sunshine was observed across most parts of the state, including the capital Shimla, though winds also swept through several areas. On Wednesday evening, Shimla was engulfed in a layer of fog.
The maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 28.5°C in Una and 17.3°C in Shimla. In tribal areas, minimum temperatures remain below freezing. Kukumseri recorded a low of minus 4.2°C, Tabo minus 4°C, and Kalpa 1.6°C.
