A vibrant program celebrating women empowerment was organized at Bahra University, bringing together inspiration, enthusiasm, and cultural performances. Mrs. Poonam Thakur, Assistant Commissioner, Excise & Taxation, Himachal Pradesh and Nodal Officer, attended the event as the guest speaker and addressed students and faculty members.
The event was graced by several eminent dignitaries including former Rajya Sabha Member Avinash Rai Khanna, Chancellor Sardar Gurwinder Singh Bahra, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Krishna Kant Dave, and Registrar Vineet Kumar (Ex-IAS). Faculty members, staff, and students also participated in large numbers.
The campus witnessed great enthusiasm as women faculty members, staff, and students actively took part in various cultural performances, making the celebration lively and energetic. The highlight of the event was a fashion show that beautifully showcased the diverse roles and professional fields in which women are excelling while balancing their daily responsibilities with confidence and grace.
During her inspiring address, Mrs. Poonam Thakur, who was also awarded Miss India Goddess 2025 – 1st Runner-up, shared real-life experiences from her professional journey. She emphasized that dedication and perseverance helped her balance administrative service with her passion. She encouraged students to prioritize education and said that once empowered with knowledge, women should confidently pursue their dreams and passions.
On the occasion, the Chairman of Rayat Bahra Group highlighted the importance of equality in society, stating that women today are excelling in every field and are no less than men. He added that inspiring personalities like Poonam Thakur serve as true role models for the younger generation.
The event concluded on a positive and inspiring note, spreading a message of confidence, equality, and empowerment, while celebrating the strength and leadership of women in society.
