The woman who accused the doctors of the death and disappearance of the twins after their birth in Kamla Nehru Hospital (KNH) Shimla was not pregnant. According to the hospital management, this has become clear in the medical examination report. The investigation also revealed that the woman was under a lot of pressure from her family regarding pregnancy. Apart from this, the woman has had abortions about six times before. Now, the report of the medical examination conducted in DDU Hospital has revealed that the woman was not pregnant.
After this, the woman was sent to the psychiatry department of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC). A woman from the Karsog area of Mandi district had made serious allegations against the doctors of the death of twins after giving birth to them and the disappearance of the bodies in the state’s only largest maternal and child Kamla Nehru Hospital (KNH) on Saturday. There was a ruckus about this matter till 1.30 am on Saturday. When the matter escalated, the top officials of the health department themselves came to the spot and the woman’s medical checkup was done at DDU Hospital instead of KNH.
The woman had alleged that she gave birth to twins and the hospital management made the children disappear. The woman claimed that the file related to her pregnancy was also deleted. The woman, her husband, and her family kept creating a ruckus on the hospital premises till late at night. When the police searched the CCTV footage installed in the hospital, it was revealed that the woman kept roaming the premises with her husband but did not go to the minor OT and labor room. The woman entered the hospital at 10:24 am and went out of the main gate at 10:57 am. No hospital record was also found with the woman.
It is being told that two types of tests were done on the woman. These included the test, which remains positive for two days after delivery. The woman’s medical report was received by the hospital management on Saturday. The report made it clear that the woman was not pregnant at all. The mental condition of the woman is now being evaluated; apart from this, she is being sent to IGMC for an opinion on counseling and other necessary treatment.
The police are also investigating every aspect of this case. On Saturday, the police got the woman tested at Deendayal Upadhyay and IGMC, but the woman is not in a position to give a statement to the police yet. The woman’s statement will be recorded only after the advice of doctors. While investigating the case, the police have recorded the statements of the woman’s mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and husband. In this, they are still not ready to accept that the woman was not pregnant.
The hospital’s senior medical superintendent, Dr. SS Negi, said that the allegations made by the woman against the hospital management have been proved wrong. Legal advice will be taken from the officials in this regard. Strict steps will be taken in this regard so that people cannot spoil the name of the institution in this way. The woman has not been found pregnant in the medical report. The woman was undergoing treatment for infertility for two years. This case appears to be a case of pseudocyesis, in which a woman starts believing herself to be pregnant when in reality nothing like this is happening. It is considered to be a psychological condition in which a woman feels that she is pregnant and her body also starts showing pregnancy-like symptoms, such as a growing belly and menstruation stopping.
