Shimla, September 23. The women of the Mahila Mandal Dhali Bagda of the village panchayat Peeran in the Mashobra block set a unique example by cleaning the entire ward. During this cleanliness drive, the women cleared the bushes that had grown during the rainy season on the roads and the rainwater that had collected at various places to prevent the spread of mosquitoes. Furthermore, the women collected plastic and other garbage scattered on the roads and streets of the village and disposed of it properly.
Anganwadi assistant Poonam Thakur explained that the women’s group has incorporated the cleanliness campaign into their daily routine. Before meetings held during the month, the women collect garbage scattered on the roads and streets and set it on fire. She explained that God resides in cleanliness. Keeping the home and surroundings clean also reduces the risk of various diseases caused by dirt.
Poonam Thakur stated that the women of Mahila Mandal Dhali Bagda are actively participating in the government-sponsored Swachhta Pakhwada program. She added that in addition to the cleanliness campaign, women are also ensuring their participation in drug de-addiction and environmental protection programs. She added that drug addicts, especially youth and children, are being made aware of the ill effects of various types of drugs.
On this occasion, women presented a cultural program on cleanliness and conveyed the message of cleanliness to the public. Poonam Thakur recited a poem on cleanliness and women’s empowerment.
In this cleanliness campaign, the head of Peeran Panchayat Kiran Sharma, women’s wing officials Kanta Devi, Prem Lata, Sharda Devi, Sheela Devi Hemlata, Asha Devi, Sheela Devi, Rita Devi, Krishna Devi, Sheetala Devi, Sunita Devi, Sarju Devi, Reena Devi and other women participated enthusiastically in the cleanliness campaign.
