Solan:
Health and Family Welfare, Social Justice and Empowerment, and Sainik Welfare Minister Dhaniram Shandil today inspected the condition of the Solan–Dayothi–Subathu road at Kaylar and assured residents that work to strengthen the road will commence soon.
He said that the road has deteriorated due to weather conditions and other factors. The Public Works Department has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for its repair under NABARD amounting to ₹23.89 crore, which has been submitted for approval. Road strengthening work will begin once approval is received.
Dr. Shandil informed that during 2024–25, safety wall construction, tarring, and matting work was carried out on a nearly 2-kilometre stretch from Solan to Kaylar at a cost of ₹1.57 crore; however, the stretch was later damaged due to heavy rainfall.
He added that the state government is prioritising development in road infrastructure, education, and healthcare sectors, and is ensuring proper roadside drainage to prevent damage during the monsoon season.
The Minister stated that approximately ₹223 crore has been spent over the past three years on the construction of roads, bridges, and buildings in Solan district. He added that 12 new bridges have been constructed in the district, while work on 11 more is currently underway at an estimated cost of ₹38.14 crore.
He further informed that 69.71 kilometres of new roads were constructed in the district over the past year, taking the total road network in Solan to 3,349 kilometres.
Several dignitaries, including representatives from local bodies and officials of the district administration and Public Works Department, were present on the occasion.
