A one-day workshop on ‘Development of Soft Skills for Entrepreneurship among Agri Graduates’ was organized by the Directorate of Extension Education, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry for the final-year students of College of Horticulture and College of Forestry at the university’s main campus in Nauni.
The workshop was organized in collaboration with ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Development and ICAR NAHEP’s Institutional Development Project with an aim to create awareness among agri-graduates about soft skills, innovation and entrepreneurs. Over 100 students from forestry and horticulture backgrounds along with faculty members attended the training.
Dr. Prachi Kapil, Assistant Professor at Shoolini University delivered a guest lecture on ‘Communication Skills for Professional Advancement’. The main objective of this lecture was to help students to comprehend the difficulties they encountered when speaking with diverse stakeholders. A lecture on ‘Teamwork and Team Building’ was also delivered which included a variety of group exercises designed to help the students grasp the value of teamwork and how to create the ideal team by allocating responsibilities in accordance with each member’s abilities and attributes.
Dr. Swati Prasher, HDO gave a presentation on Government Initiative for startups and companies. Workshop’s programme Director Dr. Pratima Rana led several group exercises with the students. Inspirational stories of successful entrepreneurs were also shown to the participants.
Agricultural entrepreneurs Umesh Mahajan of Amazon Seed Limited and Sherpa Eco Resort and Lalit Kawar of Renuka Seed Limited also interacted with the students and shared their insights on entrepreneurship. Dr. Inder Dev, Director of Extension Education, Dr. Manish Sharma, Dean College of Horticulture and Dr. CL Thakur, Dean of Forestry provided encouraging remarks to the students during the valedictory ceremony.
