Under the joint aegis of the Health and Family Welfare Department and Himachal Pradesh AIDS Control Society, a workshop was organized here today presided over by the Project Director Rajiv Kumar.
Rajeev Kumar said that the main objective of this workshop was to connect the people living with HIV in Himachal to the mainstream of society through various departments. He said that the government has provided free and timely treatment facilities to the people suffering from AIDS. Besides, the state government was also providing financial assistance to the children and orphans of the affected people for education and other living related needs. He urged HP Skill Development Corporation to also consider connecting people living with HIV with skill development programs.
The workshop was attended by the representatives of Higher Education, Urban Development, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department, Technical Education, Women and Child Development Department, State Livelihood Mission, HP Skill Development Corporation, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana, HP MILKFED and Himachal Pradesh Legal Services Authority.
Persons living with HIV also shared their views during the workshop. Departmental representatives assured that every possible effort will be made to include them in various welfare schemes.
Secretary, HP Legal Services Authority, Vikas Gupta and officials of state AIDS control society were also present in the workshop.
