Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences and Business Management (SILB), Solan, conducted a one-day workshop titled “BioInnovate 1.0: Future Frontiers, Research and IPR in the World of Biotechnology” in a hybrid format. The workshop aimed to inspire scientific curiosity among students and promote awareness about innovation and intellectual property rights (IPR).
The Chief Guest of the event was Prof. P K Khosla, Chancellor, Shoolini University. Prof Khosla shared his thoughts on the importance of research, innovation, and IPR in shaping a knowledge-driven economy. President SILB, Mrs. Saroj Khosla, Chief Patron, motivated students to strive for scientific excellence with a goal of contributing to the nation.
Dr. Shalini Sharma, Director, SILB and Patron of the workshop, presided over the programme. She emphasised the institute’s dedication to providing quality education and hands-on learning experiences. Dr. Meenu Thakur, Head of the Department and Convener of the workshop, welcomed the guests and explained the main objectives of the event.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Wamik Azmi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, HPU, Shimla. He gave valuable insights into the changing landscape of biotechnology and encouraged students to explore new directions in science.
Prof. Sourabh Kulshrestha, Dean, Research and Development at Shoolini University, talked about innovation ecosystems and research-based solutions in biotechnology. His session inspired students to pursue research with enthusiasm.
Advocate Himanshu Sharma, from SIPRO IP Cell at Shoolini University, conducted an informative session on the role of intellectual property rights and patents, explaining their significance for researchers and innovators.
The workshop was co-convened by Dr. Mamta Garla, while Dr. Rakshandha Saini and Ms. Deeksha Sharma coordinated as organising secretaries and efficiently managed the event.
