The Office of the Dean Students Welfare organised various events to commemorate World AIDS Day at Shoolini University. It was marked by a series of events aimed at raising awareness among university employees and students.
As part of the events, a blood donation camp was organised in collaboration with the IGMC, Shimla. The camp was open to all faculty, staff, and students, and approximately 150 units of blood were collected.
In another event, a Nukkad Natak called “Bejubaan koi nahi” was showcased at various locations in the university premises to educate everyone about the stigma related to HIV and AIDS in our society.
A team from YouWeCan from Gurgaon also visited the campus to take part in sessions on breaking myths about the disease. An informative session on the prevention of substance abuse was also organised. Ms. Poornima from YouWeCan talked about things we tend to brush under the carpet. She also spoke to NSS and NCC students as well. Dr Tanvi arora youwecan project coordinator for women cancer also shared her views.
“It’s truly heartening to see the response of the students, staff, and faculty to these initiatives,” stated Mrs. Poonam Nanda, Dean Students Welfare at Shoolini University. The number of first-time contributors is constantly increasing, which makes us very proud that students are inspired to participate in such initiatives, she added.
