The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Shoolini University organised a number of events and lectures to mark the World Pharmacists’ Day.
Prof. Deepak Kapoor, Dean, Pharmaceutical Sciences, welcomed chief guest Prof. Pramil Tiwari, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, honorary guest Prof. V.K. Kapoor, Senior Professor, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Prof. PK Khosla, Chancellor, Shoolini University, as well as all the participants.
Emphasising the role of pharmacists, Prof Khosla said they were an intrinsic part of the healthcare team, especially in the present scenario. He encouraged the students to focus more on research for the welfare of human beings.
Prof. Kapoor’s lecture was focused on the theme, “Eminent People in the History of Pharmacy,” and was highly appreciated. He talked about ancient universities, the discovery of molecules, and chemical structures.
Prof. Tiwari delivered his lecture on patient safety and pharmacy practice. He said pharmacists were transforming global health by empowering patients and other health care providers through counselling, drug information, and motivation for rational use of medicine.
The day was focused on “Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world”. The theme for this year’s celebrations was that pharmacists all over the world are united, in global health and play a great role in research and development of medicines. It is thanks to the efforts of pharmacists that they dispense safe and affordable medicines for a healthier world.
Students participated with great enthusiasm in the competitions of declamation, poster making. Sharoon won the first prize for declamation, Anshuman from the 7th semester won the second prize in declamation, and Minter from the 5th semester won the third prize.
In the poster making competition, Ashima and Amar Chaudhary bagged the first prize, Ritika and Diwakshi won the second prize, Aman and Muskaan won the third prize.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Deepak Kapoor, Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He congratulated all the winners and appreciated their efforts.
