The world’s highest cricket stadium will be built at an altitude of 10235 feet above sea level at Sissu in Lahaul Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. This stadium will be built near Sissu helipad. MLA Ravi Thakur gave this information.
He told that at present the record of being the highest cricket stadium in the world is in the name of Chail Cricket Stadium of Himachal Pradesh. It was built in 1891 by Maharaja Bhupendra Singh of Patiala at an altitude of 7500 feet.
After the stadium is built at Sissu in Lahaul Spiti, if it gets international fame, players coming from outside will reach here by helicopter. Being an inaccessible area, it is not easy to reach here by road.
The MLA said that due to the presence of a helipad in Sissu, the players would be able to reach here easily by helicopter, but getting the match organized in this area, which remains in captivity of snow for 6 months, is no less than a challenge.
Under the Green Himachal Vision of the Government of Himachal Pradesh Sukhu, a green corridor will also be built on the National Highway from Keylong to Manali, the district headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti. Budget provision has been made for the development of Lahaul Spiti.
MLA Ravi Thakur said that a few months ago he met Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur in Delhi and discussed the promotion of adventure sports in Lahaul. During this, the construction of cricket stadium, ice hockey rink, ropeway, ski lift, heliport in Sissu was discussed in detail.
