Lahaul Spiti April 6
Lahaul-Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana on Monday clarified that she had inadvertently named the wrong firm during the recent vidhansabha session while raising concerns over poor road maintenance on the Gramphu–Kaza–Sumdo stretch.
Rana said the company she intended to flag was Garg & Sons, not Garg & Garg, attributing the mix-up to similar names and official inputs received from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and local administration. She alleged that Garg & Sons failed to clear snow within stipulated timelines and had pending payments to local vendors, contractors and residents.
“The firm’s performance has been unsatisfactory, and strict action should be taken against such defaulters,” she said, urging the government and BRO to deny further work to the company to ensure timely and quality road construction in the tribal region.
Meanwhile, Garg & Garg manager Pyarelal Sharma welcomed the clarification, stating that the company’s reputation had been unfairly affected. He said Rana acknowledged the error after verification with authorities and corrected her statement publicly.
Illegal Crusher Sealed
In a separate development, an illegal crusher allegedly operated by Garg & Sons at Takcha on the Gramphu–Kaza–Sumdo road has been sealed by the Pollution Control Department for violations, officials said.
