Over 400 NSS volunteers of Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni took part in the Yuva Samwad program held at the university. The volunteers represented both the College of Forestry and College of Horticulture located on the main campus. The theme of the event was- Yuva Samwad- India@2047.
During the event, a competition was held for the participants where they expressed their views on the ‘The five princes of India’. Siya from BSc Horticulture was adjudged the winner while Chavi Sharma and Riya Thakur, both students of Horticulture bagged the second and third prizes respectively. Dr KK Raina, Librarian of the university was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Dean of Students’ Welfare Dr. Rajesh Bhalla, Dr. Amit Vikram and Dr. Parul were the judges. The Chief Guest gave away the certificates and books to the winners.
In a separate event, the NSS volunteers took part in a Voter Awareness campaign. The idea behind the event was to encourage voters, especially first-time voters to exercise their right to vote and contribute to the success of our democracy. The volunteers also took an oath to cast their vote in the upcoming elections. All the NSS program officers of the university also took part in both events.
