British Couple Arrives in Shimla to Obtain Great-Grandmother’s Death Certificate from 1894
Shimla: In a remarkable case highlighting historical ties, a couple from England has arrived in Shimla to obtain the death certificate of their great-grandmother, who passed away in 1894 during the British era.
According to sources, their ancestor was residing in Shimla at the time of her death. The couple approached the local municipal authorities and archival offices to trace and secure the official record, as part of their efforts to complete and preserve their family history.
Officials stated that locating documents over 130 years old can be challenging, as the records date back to the colonial period. However, many such historical documents are still preserved in Shimla’s archives.
