Shimla: A 22-year-old man was found dead near Khaneri hospital in Rampur subdivision of Shimla district on Thursday morning, triggering panic in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Anshul, a resident of Urni village in Kinnaur district. He was working at Krishna Lab in Mahatma Gandhi Medical Services Complex Khaneri.
According to police, the body was found near a public toilet along National Highway 5. Preliminary investigation suggests that the youth may have lost control and fallen down from a hillside near the doctors’ residence towards the road, leading to his death.
Police said an eyewitness had reportedly seen the youth sitting alone on a roadside parapet around 7 pm on Wednesday evening. It is also suspected that he had consumed alcohol earlier in the evening.
Considering the sensitivity of the case, the police have called a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory Junga to examine the spot. Further clarity is expected after the forensic investigation and postmortem report.
