The file related to this payment was sent to the state government, but this file was sent back after instructing the department to prepare the report of payment on quarterly basis. The department again prepared the account of the works done across the state till March and after fixing the order of the contractors through whom these works were completed, it has been sent again to the state government. This file is once again with the state government. Now Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has to give his opinion and only after that the contractors will be paid. At present, the contractors are fuming because of the stuck payment.
Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh has blamed the BJP for non-payment of contractors. He has said that the department is completing the tender process keeping in view the financial situation. The previous government got the work done without making any budget provision. After completion of the work, their tenders were got done. In such a situation, the payments of the contractors are stuck, but the present government has changed this system. Now only those tenders are being held in the Public Works Department, for which there is a system of payment.
