THDC India Limited, in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Yogasana Sports Association and Dehradun District Yogasana Sports Association, organized three-day 5th Uttarakhand State-Level Yogasana Sports Competition 2024 from 25th to 27th October 2024 which concluded today at its Corporate Office in Rishikesh.
R. K. Vishnoi, CMD, THDCIL congratulated the winners, commending their dedication and passion for yoga. He remarked, “It’s inspiring to see participants of all ages bringing such energy and commitment to yoga. Yoga is more than just a fitness practice; it’s a path to holistic well-being and inner harmony.”
Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), THDCIL, presided over the closing ceremony and awarded the winners, appreciating their outstanding performances and encouraging them to carry forward their dedication to yoga. Sh. Singh added that it was a matter of concern that in today’s fast-paced world, modern society seems to be walking down a path, with unhealthy lifestyle choices, especially among the youth. The increasing prevalence of Substance Abuse, and Stressful lifestyle is a pressing issue, and we need to address it with a sense of urgency and responsibility. In this context, today’s event by Uttarakhand Yogasana Sports Association and Dehradun District Yogasana Sports Association promotes the practice of yoga, offering a powerful, natural antidote to these challenges, encouraging not only physical wellness but also mental clarity and resilience.
Sh. Singh further added that recognizing the significance of yoga in promoting health and mindfulness, the United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014, following a Global Appeal by Prime Minister of India, Sh. Narendra Modi. Since then, Uttarakhand has stood at the forefront of this movement, contributing actively to the International Yoga Day celebrations and showcasing the transformative power of yoga to the world. As we continue this journey, it is essential for each of us to be conscious of how we lead our lives and embrace practices that foster well-being and inner strength. Together, we can build a healthier, more progressive society, grounded in the principles of wellness and unity.
The event witnessed nearly 300 enthusiastic participants from across the country, creating an environment that celebrated teamwork, sportsmanship, and a shared love for yoga. Sh. Singh said that this would be a contributing factor to enable our country emerge as a great Nation.
THDC’s commitment to community well-being was on full display during this 3-day event, where each participant had the chance to showcase their yogic skills on a national platform. Senior officials, including Dr. A. N. Tripathy, GM (HR & A and CC), and Sh. S. B. Prasad, DGM (HR & A), were also present to support and celebrate the participants. Through this event, THDC continues its mission to promote a healthier, more connected society, paving the way for a positive future. THDCIL actively contributes to Uttarakhand’s socio-economic development, consistently leading initiatives like this event to advance its mission of fostering community well-being and progress.
In Women category, Smt. Pushpa Shah won Gold medal, in Senior Boys category Sh. Shashaank Sharma and Piyanshu won Gold and in Senior Girls category, Ms. Shristee Roy and Palak Sahu won gold, while in Sub-Junior boys category Sh. Arthav Singh Negi and Neil Nitin Mukesh won gold in Rhythmic Pair competition.
