As an agriculturist son, Jai ram thakur has seen many up and downs throughout his entire life. His father wants him to get a government job.Though his father is not alive,but his dreams has been alived for him throughout his journey.
Jai Ram Thakur today celebrating his 57th birthday at Oakover Shimla. People from all walk of life coming and wishing him for his good health at his residence.
Born on 6 January 1965 in Tandi village of Saraj Halke in Mandi district. Jai ram thakur schooling had completed in the village. After completing his schooling, Jai Ram Thakur came to Mandi College for higher education, then the students started getting painted in the colors of politics.
His family did not want him to go into politics, but who will stop Jai Ram Thakur to fly his features. He himself entered in student politics and then did not look back after that. Jairam Thakur has done BA from Vallabh College Mandi, then he entered student politics through ABVP. Apart from ABVP, he was also associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Saw the responsibility of ABVP in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir as a full time. From there he returned home in 1992.
BJP fielded him in 1993 by giving him a ticket from Chachiot light. When the family came to know about this, they opposed it. Jairam Thakur’s elder brother, Biri Singh, tells that the family members had advised Jai Ram Thakur to take care of the household farming then going into politics, because the family’s financial condition was not allowing him to contest the elections. Jai Ram Thakur decided to stay in politics on his own. In 1993, he was only 26 years old. Chachyot was a Congress stronghold. He got defeated in his first election, but has not back step.
In 1998, the BJP again fielded Jai Ram Thakur in the electoral battle. Jai Ram Thakur won in this election and after that never saw the face of defeat in the assembly elections. Even after becoming an MLA, Jai Ram Thakur never shied away from simplicity.
He was married in 1995 to Dr. Sadhna of Jaipur, Rajasthan. He has two daughters. The elder daughter has completed MBBS. And another one is currently doing MBBS. When he became an MLA for the fifth time in 2017, he reached the pinnacle of power and rose to the post of Chief Minister.
Jai Ram Thakur has been once the President of Seraj Mandal BJP, once the State President, Vice President of State Food Supply Corporation and has been a Cabinet Minister. When Jai Ram Thakur was the state president of BJP in 2007, for the first time the party came to power with a thumping majority.
