Shimla 08 July. A tree plantation was organized in Junga on Tuesday under the joint aegis of Nari Shakti Gram Sangathan and Pahari Samaj Paryavaran Kavach. On this occasion, women planted about 100 medicinal plants including deodar, ban, khanur, dadu, apricot. LRP Preeti and Suman also played an important role in the afforestation program. They expressed their gratitude to Pahari Samaj Paryavaran Kavach Sansthan for providing plants of different species.
Krishi Sakhi Yogmaya Sharma said that the women of Junga Nari Shakti Gram Sangathan have taken a unique initiative by participating in the afforestation program. She said that with the help of women of self-help groups and local people, plantation will be done on the vacant land in Junga area during the rainy season so that a positive message about environmental protection can be conveyed in the society. She said that due to environmental imbalance, natural disasters like cloudburst are increasing, causing loss of life and property. She urged the people to plant trees on their vacant lands.
