THDC India Limited jointly organized with NHPC a warm Farewell ceremony at THDCIL’s Corporate Head Quarters in Rishikesh on 22nd July 2023 to honour and bid adieu to Sh. Alok Kumar (IAS), Former Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Speaking on the occasion Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDC India Limited, profusely lauded the distinguished career of
Alok Kumar, a 1988 batch IAS Officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Through his tenure of three decades as an IAS officer, Sh. Alok Kumar held various significant and critical administrative positions in a wide spectrum of sectors, including Revenue, Transport, Power, Housing, Urban Planning, and Handicrafts, he added.
Vishnoi stated that Sh. Alok Kumar has also rendered fruitful services as Principal Secretary of Energy and Additional Sources of Energy for the Government of Uttar Pradesh and held the position of Development Commissioner of Handlooms in the Ministry of Textiles. He also served as Chairman of State Public Sector Undertakings under the Energy Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
Alok Kumar reached the pinnacle of his career as Secretary (Power) in Government of India, serving from February 2021 until June 2023. Under his dynamic leadership and visionary policies, the Power Sector of India under went a complete transformation. His contributions to the Power Sector and specially Hydro Sector in the overall nation’s development have been immense and highly commendable, Sh. Vishnoi added.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers of the Ministry of Power e.g., Sh. Mohammad Afzal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power, Sh. Ashok Kumar, Director, Ministry of Power, Directors of THDCIL Sh. J. Behera, Director (Finance), THDCIL, Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director(Personnel), THDCIL, Bhupender Gupta, Director(Technical), THDCIL, Directors of NHPC Sh. Rajendra Prasad Goyal, Director (Finance), NHPC, Sh. Biswajit Basu, Director (Projects), NHPC and Sh. Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC, and all senior officials from THDC India Limited and
NHPC were present to express their gratitude for his service and wish him the best in his future endeavours.
Alok Kumar conveyed his gratitude and appreciation for the warm farewell to Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDCIL and NHPC.
Alok Kumar stated that the Hydro Sector’s contribution to the nation’s overall economic development and the role of THDCIL and NHPC in the emerging Energy Business scenario has been most commendable. He added that under the outstanding leadership of R. K. Vishnoi, THDCIL and NHPC have established a new Benchmarks in the Hydro Sector and further stated that both these organizations would play a pivotal role in the development of Energy Sector of the nation.
The evening wound up with enthralling Cultural Programme by leading famous Bollywood singer Ms. Mahalakshmi Iyer.
THDCIL is one of the premier power generators in the country with installed capacity of 1587 MW with commissioning of Tehri Dam & HPP (1000MW), Koteshwar HEP (400MW) in Uttarakhand, Wind Power Projects of 50MW at Patan & 63MW at Dwarka in Gujarat, 24MW Dhukwan Small Hydro Project, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and 50 MW Solar Power Project at Kasaragod, Kerala to its credit.
