The Shoolini University chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) was inaugurated in the university campus on Wednesday.
The guest speaker at the event was Dr. Samiya Khan, Professor at the University of Greenwich, London, who connected through the online mode. She appreciated the launch of the Chapter and said it was commencement of an exciting journey. She committed to supporting the chapter in international networking and collaboration.
Prof. Deepak Kumar, Coordinator-iHUB Shoolini and Faculty Advisor of the ACM student chapter, highlighted the ACM’s position as the world’s largest computing society. Prof. Kumar also announced the chapter’s collaboration with iHUB Shoolini for joint activities, further strengthening the bridge between academia and industry.
On the occasion Chancellor, Prof PK Khosla, emphasized the role of ACM in organizing research-oriented activities and events to enhance the skills of participants.
Prof Ashish Khosla, Director of Innovations and Learning at Shoolini University, shed light on the abundant prospects within the ACM community. He particularly highlighted the transformative potential of Generative Artificial Intelligence, positioned at the forefront of technological advancements.
Prof Virender Rihani, Dean School Engineering Shoolini University, motivated students to actively participate in the ACM Student Chapter and its activities.
Dr. Arvind Sharma, Assistant Professor, CSE (YSAICDS) and Faculty sponsor of the ACM Student Chapter, delivered the votes of thanks. He expressed gratitude to Dr. Ashoo Khosla, Chief Learning Officer, for continuous support as the advisor to the ACM Student Chapter. Dr. Sharma also provided insights into ACM’s global presence, with over 170 local chapters and 35 special interest groups in India.
