The doctors and nursing staff working in AIIMS are facing difficulty due to the less space in the emergency ward.
According to the information, at present AIIMS Bilaspur has the facility of only 55 beds in case of emergency.
AIIMS was started in Bilaspur in the year 2021. Since then, the facilities in AIIMS are being expanded.
Presently 38 departments are working here under which people including 17 specialists and 13 super specialists and other doctors are deployed in various OPDs. In AIIMS, which has a capacity of 750 beds, at present the facility of 690 beds is being provided to the patients.
Every day nearly 70 patients are reaching AIIMS after being referred from different districts of the state and Bilaspur district, due to which many times the patients have to be shifted to other wards. In view of this problem, the AIIMS administration has decided to build a 300-bed trauma center here so that the patients coming here can get medical facilities as per AIIMS. The AIIMS administration has received in-principle approval for this. After getting in-principle approval, AIIMS administration has started the further process for this and DPR will be prepared and sent to higher officials for approval. After getting the green signal from there, the AIIMS administration will start the process of building a trauma center.
Capacity will be 355 beds
After construction of a 300-bed trauma centre, there will be 355 beds in the emergency ward in AIIMS. In the emergency ward of AIIMS, 13 nursing officers, 4 junior resident doctors, 7 doctors and 10 specialist doctors provide their services in emergencies. Most of the patients in AIIMS come referred from Bilaspur, Kullu, Mandi, Una and Lahaul-Spiti.

AIIMS Bilaspur Registrar Rakesh Kumar said that more health facilities are being expanded in AIIMS by the Central Government. In this series, a 300-bed trauma center will be built here. Formalities are being completed for this. At present, about 70 patients from the state are referred to the emergency room of AIIMS every day
