Shimla
APG Shimla University students took great pride in dancing at the International Summer Festival, which was organized at the historic Ridge Maidan on 04 June 2025. The students performed a lively Pahari Natti, a classic folk dance of Himachal Pradesh, which was welcomed with great appreciation by the visitors.
The student contingent was mentored and directed by Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dean of Student Welfare (DSW), Dr. Vijay Shree; and Mr. Ashwani Sharma from the Journalism and Mass Communication Department, APG Shimla University. Their guidance and motivation were significant in making the students ready and motivating them to participate in such a large cultural platform. The whole team collaborated in an effort to showcase the university with energy, discipline, and pride.
Wearing Himachali dresses with vibrant colors, the students danced with a lot of enthusiasm and poise. Their dance showcased the beauty and heritage of Himachal and was one of the most captivating performances of the night. The dance showcased cultural values that are encouraged by APG Shimla University among its student population.
One of the highlights of the event was when the students had the chance to meet and interact with Ms. Oshin Sharma, SDM Shimla Urban. She applauded the students for their excellent performance and urged them to continue being involved in cultural activities that preserve local traditions.
APG students also attended numerous outstanding performances by school pupils from all over Shimla and listened to musical performances by seasoned singers. The festival provided them with an opportunity to learn from others, exchange experiences, and rejoice in diversity.
One of the students who participated mentioned, “We were thrilled to perform on such a large platform in front of so many people. We are grateful to our mentors and the university for believing in us throughout.”
APG Shimla University is committed to the overall development of students and constantly promotes participating in extracurricular activities. Such events contribute to students becoming more confident, learning about teamwork, and remaining connected with their culture.
The performance of the students at the festival was a source of pride for the university and a great example of how young minds can preserve traditions through talent and hard work.
