Hamirpur, October 13, 2026:
Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur has expressed strong concern over misleading social media posts, baseless news reports and speculation regarding the forthcoming Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections circulated in his name. He has urged the public to refrain from creating and sharing such content, asserting that those spreading misleading claims about his personal political ambitions are neither serving the interests of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nor acting in his interest.
Thakur said the BJP is the world’s largest political party, and every member is a party worker. In the BJP, the spirit of a dedicated worker, commitment to the organisation and fulfilment of responsibilities are more important than holding a position. He said that, as a party worker, he remains committed to realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Developed India.
He emphasised that BJP workers are expected to work in the interests of the nation and the state while adhering to the party’s ideology and organisational discipline. Circulating misleading posts and unfounded reports by linking individuals with personal political ambitions is unfortunate. Everyone must follow the party line and maintain discipline, as such activities serve neither the interests of the organisation nor his own.
Thakur pointed out that various social media handles frequently circulate claims suggesting that he may contest the Assembly elections or assume leadership of Himachal Pradesh. Some handles have even been using artificial intelligence (AI) to create and circulate graphics projecting his candidature from different Assembly constituencies. Describing this as unnecessary and misleading publicity, he urged people not to create, post or further circulate such content.
He said the people of the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency had elected him to the Lok Sabha for five consecutive terms, giving him the opportunity to represent their concerns in Parliament. He expressed gratitude for the continued trust reposed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to discharging his responsibilities with complete sincerity and integrity.
Thakur urged everyone to refrain from spreading misleading reports or unfounded claims about his candidature in the forthcoming Assembly elections. He added that the party leadership may also initiate disciplinary action against those involved in such activities.
Calling upon BJP workers and supporters to remain focused on the larger organisational goal, he urged them to set aside personal speculation and misleading publicity and work collectively to strengthen the organisation and secure a resounding majority for the BJP in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
