Solan: The Health and Family Welfare Department organised an awareness programme in Solan to mark World Hearing Day. The event was chaired by Chief Medical Officer Ajay Pathak.
Dr. Pathak said the objective of the day is to spread awareness about hearing problems and their prevention. He highlighted that hearing plays a crucial role in overall human development and early awareness can help prevent hearing impairment.
He advised people to consult a doctor immediately in case of ear infections or other hearing-related problems and to regularly check children’s hearing ability. He also cautioned against excessive use of headphones and mobile phones, recommending that sound levels should not exceed 60 percent and headphone use should be limited to a maximum of 60 minutes per day.
Dr. Pathak added that hearing issues can often be managed through early treatment, hearing aids, speech therapy and surgery, which can reduce damage by up to 50 percent. He also encouraged elderly people experiencing hearing loss to use artificial hearing aids.
During the programme, Dr. Pathak also educated teachers and students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of staying away from substance addiction.
