Palampur, January 24: In a step towards promoting pollution-free transport and strengthening the state’s electric vehicle transition, five battery-operated electric vehicles were inaugurated today for use at various units of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC).

The vehicles were inaugurated by HPTDC Chairman RS Bali. The main inauguration ceremony was held at HPTDC Tea Bud, Palampur, while the remaining vehicles were flagged off online for other HPTDC units, including The Palace, Chail; Devdar, Khajjiar; and New Ros Common, Kasauli.
The newly introduced six-seater electric vehicles have a maximum speed of 25 kmph and can cover around 60 km on a single charge, making them ideal for short-distance internal movement within hotel and tourism premises.
Rajiv Kumar MD HPTDC said the initiative will help guests and visitors move conveniently within the units, particularly benefiting elderly tourists and senior citizens, for whom mobility often becomes challenging.
With this addition, HPTDC aims to provide a more comfortable and eco-friendly travel experience, while also encouraging the adoption of electric mobility in Himachal Pradesh.
