These flowers belong to Buransh (Rhododendron arboreum),the state flower of Himachal Pradesh and one of the most captivating symbols of Himalayan spring.
Across the mid-Himalayan belt, particularly in districts like Shimla, Kullu, Chamba and Kinnaur, entire hillsides transform into vibrant shades of red and pink as Buransh trees burst into bloom. The sight is nothing short of magical. Against the backdrop of the snow-clad Himalayas, the bright blossoms create a breathtaking contrast that attracts nature lovers, photographers and travellers across the country.
Buransh is more than just a beautiful flower; it is deeply rooted in the culture and daily life of the Himalayan communities. For generations, local people have used the petals to prepare refreshing juice and traditional drinks that are both delicious and beneficial for health. Rich in antioxidants, Buransh juice is believed to help regulate blood pressure, improve heart health and provide relief from fatigue during the warmer months.
