The state government has decided to select teachers for CBSE-affiliated schools through a competitive examination. Applications will be invited by the Directorate of School Education or an authorised agency from eligible teachers.
As per the “Scheme for CBSE-Affiliated Schools of Excellence in Himachal Pradesh”, notified, only in-service teachers with a minimum of three years of remaining service will be eligible to apply for posting in CBSE-affiliated schools. At present, 130 government schools in the state have been granted CBSE affiliation.
According to the notification, teachers posted in these CBSE-affiliated schools will not be transferred for a period of 10 years, except under exceptional circumstances. The teaching sub-cadre will comprise Principals, Vice Principals, Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs), District Programme Executives (DPEs), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), C&V teachers, and Physical Education Teachers (PETs).
The government has approved the creation of 560 posts across various categories for these schools. In addition, 400 teachers each for English and Mathematics will be recruited through the HP Rajya Chayan Aayog on a fixed honorarium for five years. These appointments will be made under a new scheme aimed at improving efficiency and professionalism in government schools.
Further, yoga teachers, counsellor-cum-wellness teachers, catering supervisors, and aayas will also be recruited. The Directorate of School Education will enforce a uniform dress code for both teachers and students in the CBSE-affiliated schools.
Meanwhile, the Himachal Government Teachers Union has opposed the decision to select teachers through a competitive examination. The union has also demanded that inter-board transfers be permitted based on teachers’ preferences.
