An attempt by Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party members to burn an effigy of 68 MLAs caused tension in Kunihar, Solan district. A violent altercation broke out between the workers and the police during the protest, which was held in front of a large police presence. A few drips of gasoline fell into a policeman’s eyes when the police grabbed a bottle of gasoline to stop the effigy from burning.
An effigy of 68 MLAs was reportedly set ablaze at the old Kunihar bus terminal as part of the Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party’s protest against the state administration. As a result, since early in the morning, there has been a significant police presence in the neighborhood. A policeman quickly grabbed the petrol container from a party worker’s hand as they were removing the effigy from a car and starting to fill it up. The accident was caused by this altercation.
Party convener Rumit Singh Thakur remained adamant on burning the effigy at any cost, but the police seized the opportunity, separating him from the effigy and seizing the effigy, thwarting the attempt. On this occasion, Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party convener Rumit Singh Thakur strongly criticized the state Congress government and the BJP. He alleged that the government was trying to suppress their voices. “Whenever the government fears us, it deploys the police,” he said.
Rumit Singh Thakur protested, stating that despite the disaster in the state, the government was building houses for MLAs worth 100 crore rupees, of which 36 crore rupees have already been approved. The honorarium of ministers and MLAs was increased during the disaster itself. In the name of schemes like Van Mitra, Pashu Mitra, and Bijli Mitra, the dreams of educated youth are being crushed. He warned that the government will suffer the consequences in the upcoming assembly elections. Rumit Thakur claimed that the people of the state are now fully ready for the third option and Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party will provide this option.
