Deputy Chief Whip in Himachal Pradesh Assembly Kewal Singh Pathania said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the state government is taking meaningful steps towards making the state economically self-reliant with the resolve to change the system. Along with this, he also said that Rajiv Gandhi Forest Conservation Scheme will play an important role in the Chief Minister’s ongoing mission to make the state a green state.
Kewal Singh Pathania was speaking in a press conference organized in the auditorium of the Chief Forest Conservator’s office today.
While wishing the people of the state on the occasion of International Minjar Fair-2025, the Deputy Chief Whip said that with the aim of making Himachal Pradesh a green state, special schemes and policies are being effectively implemented by the state government under the able leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. In this direction, the government is giving special emphasis to initiatives related to environmental protection, renewable energy, conservation of water sources and sustainable development.
Referring to the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana, he said that to ensure ecological balance and biodiversity enhancement, along with forest conservation and enhancement works with community participation, forestry activities will also create better employment options for the local communities, especially women and youth, by involving Mahila Mandal, Yuvak Mandal, Conservation Oriented Time Help Groups (CBO).
Under the scheme, out of the amount of Rs 1.20 lakh per hectare, 80 per cent will be spent on labour and 20 per cent on material.
While talking to the media persons, he mentioned about the important decisions taken by the State Government to provide 50% subsidy on purchase of e-taxi in the first phase under Rajiv Gandhi Startup Scheme for the youth and prompt resolution of revenue related issues.
Kewal Singh Pathania also said that the state government is taking all necessary steps to ensure the economic interests of the state from various hydro power projects.
He also informed the press representatives about the work being done by the state government to effectively curb narcotics and drugs.
The Deputy Chief Whip also mentioned various provisions of the Himachal Pradesh Public Examination Bill to ensure transparency and fairness in public examinations.
He said that under this bill, there will be a provision of 3 to 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to 10 lakh rupees for the culprits. Apart from this, if the examination conducting agency is found guilty, there will be a provision of a fine of one crore rupees, recovery of proportional cost of the examination and debarment from conducting any public examination for 4 years.
