Sonapur, Assam — Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday visited Zubeen Kshetra in Sonapur near Guwahati, a developing memorial and cultural complex dedicated to the late legendary singer Zubeen Garg. During his visit, the Chief Minister paid homage by lighting a ceremonial lamp in memory of the iconic Assamese artist.
Addressing the gathering, Sukhu said there is widespread public dissatisfaction with the investigation carried out by the government so far regarding the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death. He noted that many people across Assam believe the inquiry has not delivered satisfactory answers.
“The people of Assam are seeking justice,” Sukhu said. “There is a strong sentiment that the truth has not fully come out.”
He further stated that the Indian National Congress stands with the people in their demand for transparency and accountability. Sukhu added that if the Congress comes to power, it will ensure a fair and thorough investigation so that justice is delivered both to the people of Assam and to the departed soul of the celebrated singer.
Zubeen Kshetra, which is being developed as a cultural and memorial complex, aims to preserve the musical legacy and cultural contributions of Zubeen Garg, one of Assam’s most influential artists.
Local supporters and cultural enthusiasts present at the site welcomed the Chief Minister and joined in paying tribute to the late singer, remembering his lasting impact on Assamese music and culture.
