Shimla
The effect of cold is severe in Himachal Pradesh at this time, especially in the higher areas, where the temperature remains in the minus. Shimla, Manali and other hill places are also affected by cold. The temperature has gone below zero in Lahaul-Spiti and Shimla districts. However, there has been no rain and snowfall for the last few days, and the weather department says that the weather will remain clear for the next one week.
The department also said that there may be light rain and snowfall at some places on Thursday, but it is sunny in Shimla and Manali. At the same time, there was dense fog in the plains in the morning, due to which traffic was disrupted. Due to fog in Bilaspur, visibility was only 50 meters, causing a lot of trouble to the drivers.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain clear from January 24 to 29, but cold conditions will remain the same, especially in the higher areas, the temperature is likely to remain below zero.
This year the rainfall in January has been much less than normal. So far in the month of January, rainfall has reduced by 73 percent. Only 14.7 mm rainfall occurred from January 1 to January 22, whereas normally there should have been 54 mm rainfall during this period. The rainfall deficiency figures vary in different districts, such as Bilaspur which has received 91% deficiency, Kangra 90%, Shimla 71% and Solan 87%.
This less rain and snowfall has also affected the tourism of Himachal Pradesh. Hill stations like Shimla, Manali, Narkanda and Kufri are usually visited by tourists to enjoy snowfall, but this time a decline in the number of tourists has been seen due to lack of snowfall. Hotel owners hope that tourism will pick up when there is snowfall in February.
