MLAs Suresh Kumar and Captain Ranjit Singh have strongly refuted the allegations made by former Sujanpur MLA Rajender Rana during a press conference held in Solan on Friday. They stated that all accusations levelled by Rana are completely baseless, misleading and far removed from the facts. According to them, such statements are nothing more than a desperate attempt to gain cheap publicity and media attention. Making unsubstantiated claims without any evidence reflects the opposition’s lack of genuine public issues.
The MLAs also dismissed claims regarding the Delhi visit of the Chief Minister, calling them entirely fabricated. They emphasized that all official engagements of the Chief Minister are pre-decided programmes. Spreading unfounded stories about a 24-hour schedule is merely an attempt to create sensationalism and has no connection with reality.
Responding to remarks about advisors, the MLAs termed such comments highly objectionable. They clarified that only a limited number of advisors have been appointed in the state, and the expenditure on them is less than one percent of the total state budget. Moreover, these advisors have contributed significantly to policy improvements and implementation across various sectors. Saying many baseless things regarding them only highlights the frustration of the opposition.
Addressing concerns about entry tax, they pointed out that incorrect figures have been presented. The changes in the tax structure are aimed at strengthening revenue and accelerating development. Over the past years, the state’s own revenue has consistently increased, enabling substantial investments in roads, healthcare and education. Highlighting a single figure in isolation is misleading and distorts the broader financial picture.
The MLAs also rejected allegations related to land near the Hamirpur Medical College, stating that all land transactions are conducted strictly in accordance with legal procedures. Making such claims without evidence is indicative of political malice. Similarly, they termed statements about salary cuts and an economic emergency as entirely imaginary. The government has spent thousands of crores on employees and pensioners and dearness allowance along with other benefits is being released in a phased manner. Spreading rumours about salary cuts only creates unnecessary fear and confusion among employees.
On the issue of the state’s financial condition, the MLAs said that while it is true that Himachal Pradesh has a debt exceeding one lakh crore rupees, a significant portion of this burden is inherited from previous governments. The present state government has taken steps to enhance revenue and reduce unnecessary expenditure under a framework of fiscal discipline. Payments to contractors are being made transparently and liabilities worth thousands of crores have already been cleared.
They further asserted that claims dismissing budget announcements as false are completely incorrect. Recent budget provisions have allocated thousands of crores for infrastructure, healthcare and education, with tangible benefits already reaching the public. Development work is clearly visible at the ground level.
The MLAs stated that such baseless allegations are merely attempts to divert attention from the ongoing development in the state. The opposition, they said, is repeatedly trying to mislead the public with false data and narratives. However, the people of Himachal Pradesh are aware and capable of discerning the truth. The present Congress government in the state is committed to its agenda of development, transparency and public welfare, with numerous projects worth thousands of crores presently being implemented and expected to yield even better results in the future.
